Show us your rig!
Show us your rig!
I finally evolved from the dark ages of craptop gaming and built my first PC today, and since I'm so vain and arrogant I decided to tell the world about it.
The PC itself was about £800 with peripherals and monitor not included, but I wanted to get something that would last a while without constant upgrading, hence the pricetag.
The build:
- Intel i5-6600 (3.3 GHz) with a third party EKL Alpenföhn Ben Nevis CPU cooler
- GTX 1060 (6GB)
- Crucial Ballistix Sports LT (2x8GB DDR4)
- ASUS Z170-M Plus
- Be Quiet Straight Power 10 PSU
- WD Blue 1TB
- Fractal Design Core 1100 case
- Third party case fan (120mm) I forget the name
- ASUS VS248 24" monitor
That's what it all looks like when put together inside. Note however you may notice a couple of errors in the photo, I took this before plugging in the P8 power cord as I hadn't realised it needed that as well as the 24pin connector. I wondered for a while why all the bits and pieces whirred to life but didn't do anything :]
The keen eyed also might notice that there doesn't seem to be a hard drive anywhere. The hard drive is actually mounted in the slot where a disc drive would be as you can see in the next picture.
This isn't because I'm completely mad. The hard drive I ordered did not match up with the screw holes on the mounting tray, so after noticing the shelf for the disc drive was not in use I made the best of a bad situation and made a lot of cuts int he shelf to fit the hard drive. The fan mounted at the front of the case is also similarly precariously mounted as the case was meant to come with a fan but given the manufacturer had not got back to me and I didn't want to waste time on a return I fit the fan on with spare screws and the leftover mounting screws for the motherboard, lining the holes with blue tack to stop it shaking around.
So err yeah, do not follow this build if you're ever looking for inspiration, it isn't compatible in the conventional sense.

If no one posts their rig here I'll cry.

The internal battery has run dry, the game can now be played. However, clock based events will no longer occur.

Re: Show us your rig!
Intake fan, but no exhaust Fans should come with their own screws so not sure why you had to use extras. Should get a mouse pad for your mouse. The feet will wear out on a hard surface. Did the front part of the disc drive area have to come out so the hard drive would fit? Having it in would reduce the noise a bit. 800 isn't that expensive for computers btw
I'll post some pics of my computer later. Don't want to hurt your feelings and make you cry

The motherboard only has one socket for a fan and the rear exhaust spot is for a 92mm fan which i don't have. The fan also did come with it's own screws but they did not work with the case I have.
I would get a mousepad, but I've had it for a few years now and it hasn't run down much so not too bothered :]
The front part of the disc drive has no cover because normally if you have no drive you'd use the other panel which covers it fully.
And £800 is expensive for me!

Re: Show us your rig!
Well at some point I idd had some waifu status standing on my pc, but I decided that they didn't fit the rest of my interior decoration hence I got rid of them.
The only statue I have now is a bust of the goddess Demeter ...
... not sure if that qualifies as waifu material though.

Show us your rig!
Sorry for the horrible picture quality. Took them with my phone in a bad lighting.
So there is my setup (don't look under the table, I am trying to find a solution that would hold the electric outlet under my table so it would be a bit more neat while keeping stuff off the floor. Would need to find some stronger 2-sided tape since the standard I can get doesn't seem to cut it.
Anyway my specs are as follows:
The PC:
CPU: Intel i5 4690K @ 4,4GHz
CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
GPU: MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G with mild overclock
RAM: 4x4GB Corsair vengeance LP @ 1600MHz
Motherboard: Asus Z97 Pro Gamer
SSD: Crucial MX100 256GB + Samsung 850 Evo 250GB
HDD: WD Blue 1TB
PSU: Corsair VS550 (550W)
Case: Fractal Design Define R5
Fans: 2x Fractal Design Dynamic GP14, 140mm, one intake, one exhaust.
Peripherals:
Keyboard: Corsair Vengeance K70
Mouse: SteelSeries Rival 300
Mousepad: Steelseries QcK (I have a black one as well. It is hiding behind the monitors *insert soon meme*)
Monitors: 2x Asus VX239H-W, 23", 1080p, 60Hz pleb monitors
Speakers: Libratone Zip
Headhpones: Sennheiser HD600 + Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 over ear + Sennheiser Momentum on ear + SeelSeries H7
Amp/DAC: Sound Blaster E5
Microphone: Sound Blaster E5 integrated until I figure out something better at a reasonable price (if anyone has ideas, they are welcome).
Edit: Actually ordered Blue Snowball to be my new microphone.

Re: Show us your rig!
The Core 1100 should support 3,5 inch drives but it can have issues with over 170mm GPUs but not sure what is the reason you couldn't fit the HDD in there.

Not the best photo quality ever, but there they go.
Almost 5 years old computer. OMG, I though it was younger Time flies.
Spec
- Asus P8Z77-V LE
- Intel Core i5-3550 3.3Ghz Box Socket 1155
- Thermaltake Contac 30 CPU Cooler
- Kingston HyperX Blu DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 8GB 2x4GB CL9
- Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 2TB SATA3 64MB
- OCZ Agility 3 SATA3 2.5" SSD 60GB
- AeroCool VS-3 Advance Gaming USB 3.0
- NOX Hummer M 750W Modular
- Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 1GB GDDR5
- LG GH24NS90 Grabadora DVD 24X Negra OEM
- Cooler Master R4-L2R-20AG-R2 120x120mm 2000rpm x 4
These are a bit newer.
- NOX Koban Ratón Gaming 4000 DPI
- Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller for Windows Negro
- Nox Krom Khalon Teclado Gaming RGB
- Nox Krom S7ven 7.1
-Tacens Mars Gaming Altavoces MS2
Some things to say.
1. I'm living for rent ATM, so not my main chair and desk xD
2. Horo best waifu ever.
3. I want to change my monitor. All the fucking videos, media content and ever videogames are now in widescreen so I'm eating a lot of black bars up and down the monitor. The problem is it's working perfectly since 8 years and I'm a bit reticent to change it. Not mention the graphic card a bit old so when i change the monitor I will have to change the graphic card if I want to avoid play on slides.
4. My main speakers don't fit on the table, so I had to buy that little ones. Well, at least only costs 20 € and needs no power, only a USB connection XD

The way is was educated, I suppose. I mean, for me it's a waste to change something that works without problem. Apart from I said in note number 4.
