Attributes

Strong melee damage
High health
Weak ranged damage
In order to move so quickly around the battlefield, Assault Marines are equipped with light armour.
As such, you can effectively counter Assault Marines by saving your piercing shots for when they strike.
If piercing is still the same damage type as in DoW2...

I feel your pain though. Obviously we want this game to go well but... It's hard to be optimistic about Relic really. Aww I hope dow3 isn't a bust...

Listening Posts confirmed (for now) - I know base building was confirmed, but I'm not sure on the listening post part.
Heavy Bolter(s) aka - generalizing shuriken catapult?/loota/heavy bolters?
Armor Types seems to be still a thing. Judging by the things, they have inherit high healthpool to allow them to sustain themselves in a fight, but their armor type isn't the best of all worlds, so FOCUS FIRE on ranged units might be more promptly rewarding.

So, instead - as they're treated now. Piercing_Pvp focus fire on an ASM works, but it does take time to kick in and have it's effect. Whereas they might be going for more a smoother flow of interaction between the players. Rather than have a player "No need to worry now", instead he might have to react directly - making the PVP interaction a continous thing, and decision making a constant thing to keep into consideration in the heat of battle.

All speculations, but I love that kind of thing.
