Shuriken problem...
Shuriken problem...
Why this set up team has the literal name of ninja starts?
Re: Shuriken problem...
Because that's what they shoot at people. If you want to get technical, they fire monomollecular blades at high speed, but they're referred to as shuriken.
Re: Shuriken problem...
Probably because 40K was created in the 1980s.
Re: Shuriken problem...
Its Eldar name is tuelean - well, that's the shuriken catapult which is what the guardians use.
Shuriken platform is just a human name for it, the eldar will call it something different.
And I think it's pretty clear why the humans call it a shuriken platform - because it is a platform that shoots out shuriken like objects - sharp bladed things that move really quick and tear through flesh and armour alike.
Just like there's no way eldar actually call fire dragons fire dragons or any of the eldar troops really. That's a human term given to them. 'nom saying?

Well, the Japanese word "shuriken" refers to hand-held blades, so it stops making a lot of sense once you shoot them out of a rifle instead, and the term has nothing to do with either stars or ninjas. Most shuriken were/are rod-shaped and used by everyone and their cat in Japanese martial traditions. So the entire star thing is 1980s pop culture luls and naming a gun after it is so 80s it makes me see David Hasselhofs.

@ Lulgrim You're refering to Bo-shuriken now, correct?
