I'll be expecting a full report then, including of all the rumors.

Relic are doing a pre-E3 stream today:

Well, the stream is available below, but it doesn’t have any actual DoW3 on it (which is mildly [but only mildly since it’s Relic] surprising considering it’s titled "Dawn of War III First Twitch" and advertised with "Dawn of War III live on Twitch") so I can’t recommend it much, unless you absolutely need to see random women browsing their own website and playing DoW2 3v3/TLS.

I think the screenshot about 30 mins in is new, and for me it definitely looks much better than the previous ones. More detail, more particle effects, better lighting, more grimdark.

Yeah, the new screenshot looked good, but the rest of the stream is fodder.

I'm not sure, but does anyone know of Relics schedule? (If they have any, or are just attending with some gameplay footage behind closed doors and etc / on the show floor)

Or will they be interviewed @ IGN/Twitch streams and have gameplay shown there at one point?

From their site: "We will be live at the E3 PC Gaming Show on June 13 at 11:30 AM PDT! For those of you looking forward to seeing gameplay footage, here's your chance!" - sounds to me like they'll show off gameplay footage during the "Pc Gaming Show" - apparently with questions from the fans too, cause Kellie wrote this on the offical forums:

"In less than two weeks, we'll be live at the PC Gaming Show at E3 to unveil the very first look at Dawn of War III gameplay! Be sure to tune in on June 13th at 11:30 AM PDT to catch the start of the show. Do you have any burning questions about the Space Marines? Post them here! The devs will be answering your questions after E3 - so ask away!"

Dunno what I was expecting, but i was kinda disappointed with the BF 1 presentation. Gameplay looked way too fast (movement, tanks, cars), too many smgs and semiautomatic rifles, it was basically lacking the whole WW1 aspect apart from the visuals.

Well, i think it was the only way to make WW1 FPS-action game fun

Generic CoD clones aren't the only way to make FPSs, red orchestra proved that a "slower" more tactical approach works extremely well.

That said, considering the lack of good FPS nowadays I would get bf1 if it didn't cost 120€, which is probably what will happen seeing bf3/4 and battlefront, so all in all they can keep it for themselves.

Not the only, but if they would made it slow and tactical like RO it would be a different game - not BF. Also, we have WW1 "Verdun" game - something like RO2 clone in WW1, but i find it boring and unrealistic and still prefer RO2.

Tbh I prefer the more realistic approach of verdun compared to the BF1 way, just because verdun feels somewhat like a WW1 game.

Maybe this should have been it's own post but it does concern E3 for the most part so what the hell...

Yesterday the Halo Wars 2 beta was released, and I'm noticing interesting parallels between it and DoW3. For the most part, reception has been negative. Maybe even more so than the first analyses of Dawn of War 3 from looking at forum posts here. "Cartoonier" graphics have been one major criticism just like it was here as well. Base layout has been another big talking point. A lot of "We want more of the same, just newer and better" has been argued. Anyway, now that they've shown actual footage of DoW3, what do you guys think?

Actually, the base building shown off in DoW III looked kind of cool, maybe from a TT/lore perspective but it didn't look too overly reliant on buildings.

As an extreme halo wars fan (I was top 50 in 1v1 for years and top 10 in 2v2) the graphics for halo wars make me sad too. It just sucks outright to have such lame graphics. They don't look realistic at all. It's just ugly to look at damnit.

Halo wars is interesting though, I don't mind that they haven't changed the base building. It needs to be simple to work for consoles. I just won't be getting Halo Wars and playing it competitively on PC I guess. But it should still be fun.

Halo wars 1 is interesting in that it is the RTS that is the most similar to DOW2 I feel - leaders, and a heavy emphasis on battle micro over macro.

Dude, the Halo Wars 2 Trailer was pretty sick. The graphics are just fine imo and while I'm probably never going to play the game (since I don't own the console) I can say that it totally worked for me.

If I recall correctly, the game will also be released for Windows, so you'll be able to play the game on pc.

My thoughts on Halo Wars and the known footage of Halo Wars 2:
I really liked Halo Wars, but I found it a shame that the RTS was only brought to the console, as playing RTS on a console felt very limiting and the community and online activity felt even more limited. The campaign was phenomenal, with arguably some of the best cutscenes I have ever seen for a Halo game, miles apart from some of the main installments of the Halo Universe. If they made a Halo movie along the lines of Halo Wars, I would watch it in a heartbeat. The gameplay was interesting and felt like a mix of classic elements and some new things. Building your base pads reminded me a lot of Battle for Middle-Earth, which felt trusted. Both factions were well-designed overall, with the commanders being fun to mess around with. The global powers were pretty interesting too. The only annoying thing for me were Spartans hi-jacking vehicles, but that's about it. Oh and the fact that they had a fully-made Flood faction for campaign, but they were not included in skirmish -.-

Now for Halo Wars 2, the game remedies at least my biggest problem, the fact that the first entry was lacking a PC port. For the rest, it feels like the complete opposite of what they did with Dawn of War III, it is too much of the same. I saw literally the same units that we had in Halo Wars I. I suppose I don't mind it that much because it is the universe of Halo and it follows shortly after Halo Wars' story, but I am not sure what I should have expected. A shift in playstyle maybe? Then again, it is CA and 343 Industries, so I guess I could have known. I hope there will be a beta on PC so we can give it a go.

The graphics look okay, just upgraded ones of Halo Wars, but I would only ditch those terrible team colours. I find them much more distracting than the lore-accurate uniforms and colours. I am sure there are other ways to improve unit visibility on the battlefield through numerals or unit circles or icons.

Also, what is up with the Covenant? They look very metallic this time around. Did they merge with the Forerunners? We shall see. Looking forward to kick ass with Spartans and splatter some grunts with my Warthog.
