I've read, and I heard it on a interview, that Orks are a free-to-play race. Which pretty much also is a give-away that other factions are not going to be free.

They've also expressed themselves to want to add in additional factions in the future, which pretty much gives away their business plan with how they want to earn cash with a F2P mmo.

oh yeah I guess if you choose to buy only a specific faction. I would be the type to buy the entire game to play all the factions.

Ouch this is looking very bad, it's space marine online, truth to be told this kind of third persion view will never work in an MMO,even more so in one that's supposed to be massive, you just can't fit a view big enough to keep in check your sorroudings, beside beign very clunky to begin with.

eh, i think it works but it seems like it's going to be a relatively simple game. more interested in how the non MEQ factions work at this point.

Yeah and it looks cartoonish which I don't like at all. The game is very similar to Space Marine which means the game will not look very good even if they polish it up. I'm not very impressed. Too bad.

im not sold on the too cartoonish yet. I thought WoW was too cartoonish but learned to love it. For example, i think chaos look better realistic but orks better cartoony. Though degrees matter. Cant swing too much in either way.

you thought space marine looked too cartoony? I would have said it was perfect. The faces of the marines. The detail and darkness of some of the chaos units and ork dudes was just right.

I agree with you that orks can look a bit cartoony but still not too much. The faces in Space Marine were good. Overall it was ok but a close call to cartoonish. :P I think it's a personal taste and depends on the setting. For me I prefer the realistic look for 40k.

Guys, it's SUPER MUCH work in progress stuff. You're suppose to just get an "idea" on the general concept, not judge it on it's appearance and gameplay.

Compared to their proof of concept (Which they have shown to their publisher and alike) video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MumYPtiRaw) which is more graphically polished then their very rough WIP stuff.

at this point i really don't give a fuck about the graphics; i'm just interested in abilities and the ui at this point is entirely lacking any evidence of future abilities (proof of concept didn't have anything either). this is part of the reason i'm more interested in the non-MEQ factions: they have more uses, and needs, for abilities than space marines. hopefully even marines will have abilities and things like banners for buffs. planetside 2 isn't very complicated (really to its detriment long term) but it's still more complicated than what has been shown so far. loadouts will also be really interesting to see. who knows though, dow2 is pretty different from its proof of concept.

To be honest, you can tell there is a big difference of professionalism between the dark millennium team and this one, the trailer they released using the in-game engine and 0,5sec of gameplay present in there looked 1000 times better than this pre-alpha footage of which you can say what you want, but it's just space marine online.

your comments are the exact reason we don't normally see this kind of stuff. I already disagree that this is what we should expect. This is the part of the production where they are testing mechanics and seeing if they are viable, codex friendly, etc. Nothing looks good with only few weeks of work. The dark millennium trailer was probably months if not a year of work. This is a few weeks. They just added heavy bolters a few days ago. You all are really jumping to conclusions fast.

If these are your impressions well so be it. Your point of view is yours to have. To infer that the game is going to fail already...yeesh.

Looks promising but I don't think they should be showing footage this early as people will just complain. The whole thing was announced too early IMO. Should have announced it at the shows this year with some nice footage.

Well they are now taking lessions from money grabbers, they are learning quickly.

If you didn't see the latest newsletters, there will be a 'pre-purchase' option of the game containing different stuff in them coming up soon because they apparently don't have enough money or so is speculated.

Sigh.. I dislike being a Beta Tester who needs to pay for an unfinished and possibly sloppy and unpolished games... I swear that's how most Game Developers are making budget cuts to Beta Testing via their 'Early Access' Bull but even better is their 'Pre-Ordered' Early Access Bull.

Rant over.

There are arguments for both sides. I will tend to believe that people whom PAY to get into the beta are more serious than a casual person getting a key and then not playing more than one time. Compared to a person whom pays and plays the beta the whole time. I imagine the one who plays the most would be the payer and he would give more feedback. Even if it is a shitty analysis sometimes. Whereas I believe the casual player would just stop playing it. Thus wasting a key on a person whom got it for free.

hopefully because the fanbase for the WH40k world are older we would get more constructive feedback. HOPEFULLY.

I myself am quite interested in this as it is another 40k game. Don't hate people, you are looking at a product that will still be in development for a year and a half yet. I think that there should be two beta stages, where the first stage is a paid beta for those really interested in it to have a look around and give competent feedback, whilst stage two should be a free beta access if stage one works well, with added pre release perks for those who bought into it until the beta event is over.

As for factions, I believe there are actually four groups/warbands/chapters for every faction. I believe Chaos has Word bearers, Black Legion, I think Night Lords and something else.
The internal battery has run dry, the game can now be played. However, clock based events will no longer occur.

In the latest newsletter Eternal crusade have been showing off a Hormagaunt, so there is most of the PvE action there.
