Title says it all. Payment upon proof of completion. Anyone care to add to the pool?

Do we have access to the DoW2 ret source code? Otherwise, there would be no way to fix this issue. I'm 99% sure this is related to the sound engine hitting a hard fault and opening up a memory leak.

Set in-game Master Volume to 0 and play your favorite music in the background. Best fix.

I find it comical that this is still a problem in 2021...surely everyone has upgraded from potatoes since 2009

Why would potato computers make a difference? If anything, the game runs much much worse on windows 10 compared to windows 7. Performance wise DOW2 hasn't aged too well.

I find this offer attractive, and would take a look in the code.

An interesting thing happened recently.

I got the soundbug (Not surprising) but instead of quitting right away I opened game "settings -> audio -> set master volume to zero" (this was during-game) and I didn't crash. The music kept going, though, which was weird.

Dunno if it was a fluke, but the game I was in finished and when I tried to quit then it crashed.

Can someone else try this and see if it's a feasible solution?

i know people say this all the time, but this time it is definitely true. i've seen tons of SBs since the latest patch. Not sure what changed, but i've had more in the past few weeks than i've had in the past few years

Sometimes there's a Steam or Windows update and Win 7 compatibility mode for Steam gets turned off. Just turn it on again.

Game crashes more in Windows 10 because it was made for Windows 7. Have to run the game in Windows 7 compatibility mode if in Windows 10. Makes a huge difference.

Just upgrade to Win 11. Free and fixes soundbug.
