I started recently playing Elite and I want to improve myself, currently I'm mostly playing the "easiest" heroes; FC and PC.
Should I get a main and play it over and over before switching ? If yes any advice to choose it ?

Geting a main is a good Idea

The commander you pick doesn't really affect the difficulty much. It's more about the army. If you want to make it easier:
- Pick the play style you're familiar with or appeals to you. Example: You're used to playing sneaky type characters so you pick a Kommando Nob or Lictor Alpha. Also, picking something you like will make you more motivated to keep improving
- Play team games. 1v1's require more multitasking whereas for team games you're more often going to have your entire army in one area

I would suggest you do as much 1v1's as you can.
Teamgames don't teach you as much as 1v1's. There is no-one else to blame than yourself in 1v1's.
(Unless there are bugs or something )

Re: Learning Elite gameplay
Well, from what I see, I loose mostly because I'm bad at positioning my squads in my army; with SM I struggle to use my scouts and with dedicated melee squad from other factions I don't really know how to use them; in front of my range squads or behind to cover them or on the flanks.... I'm incapable to deal with a full army in 3v3, like a blob of marines with their apo, or eldar backed up by 2 rangers squad.
But sure I will try some 1v1 except it's a little bit hard to find it at noob level.

Scouts are fragile so don't let them be in front and take fire
Shotguns blast the unit away so use it before the unit gets in melee range
Domino knockback is when a knocked back unit hits another unit. Use your shotgun blast to knock one squad into another to take down both
Watch some replays to see what other people do. Once you get the general idea of it you'll be able to learn any new situation that pops up
