Could ability indicators have a different colour depending on who casts it?
Could ability indicators have a different colour depending on who casts it?
I was thinking specifically of drop pods for SM - could a friendly drop have a different colour indicator on the ground than an enemy one so people know how to react to it?

Green for friendly, red for enemy?

Same for:
Wag bannars
Nid towers
Webways
etc.
I like this idea, not sure if it's technically feasible?

Feel like this was in DOW 2 Chaos Rising? Or am I going mad? Either way really good idea one I've thought about before

Elite already changed a lot of visual effects to make them more distinguishable which is a very good thing. More of them would be nice!
Someone would have to spends some time to make them though. A complete lists of indicators that could use some changes would also be needed.
Any volunteers?

What has to be done? The color changed in the database?

I am not familiar with the technical side of these things. But new markers will have to be made. Not just value changes in the code.

Its not really a code thing. Its animators. The colors would have to be changed or new animators would need to be created. The imlementation would be easy after that but it would be tedious.

Is it possible to make allied/enemy players see different animations? Haven't seen anything like that afaik, aside from stealth, but that's not done in the ability files.Black Relic wrote:Its not really a code thing. Its animators. Yea it is. But as you mentioned each ability would have to have a local animator similar to how allies can see the Holofield but the enemy cant. When you look at the hero aura (the thing that gives the hero a glowing effect) it does the same thing you see gold on the allied SM heroes but red on enemy SM heroes. You can change when the enemy sees and what your team sees.
And example would be say that when Overcharge goes off, you see a generic positive buff, but the enemy sees the icon More Dakka uses instead to make it more obvious the Techmarine has that buff on him. That is possible. But to use it for each ability would be tedious. I say choose buffs that cant be see easily in a big fight like "Guide."

I think call ins like the OP mentioned are all that's needed. Drop pods, terminators, orbital would be all you need for SM off the top of my head

Sorry for the poor quality. Monitor has a weird resolution. I haven't tested with anyone to see if the enemy side works, but the fact that the allied one works should mean the enemy does as well. It's red ofc. Sent it to Atlas, so he'll let me know I assume.
