o/ just a probing question for feedback purposes. There's been a couple people that thinks we should consider changing the name of the mod.

I'll let whoever wants to cite pros and cons speak for themselves, but I just wanted to see where the people who read this forum were at. How do you guys feel about the name "Elite Mod" and would you be open to a name change?

i think the current "Elite Mod" name is ok

I'd be interested to know what the suggestions were and why.

The only reason I see for keeping it is the past videos that are out with casts which may attract new people. Tho I'm sure it wouldn't be a massive deal if it changed.

As I said before I think something along the lines of 'Balance mod' but obviously that's bit lame. So maybe Balance mod Elite style! Only kidding I don't know a decent name, but I always think the name should reflect what it's for.

I would opt for Elite Rebalance Mod. Seems like one of our discord channel already bears that name.

Elite Balance Mod is certainly an option.

Doesn't sound as hopelessly dry as anything "balance-mod" related. Maintains the Elite bit as well for branding purposes. But should be significantly less off-putting for newbies. I mean "Elite Mod" is quite sharp.

I'm told the "Elite Mod" name might be offputting to some new people as it can seem like an elitist mod for "elites", so I guess a name change might technically be a good idea, buuut I think it's way too late for that frankly. The community is small and it isn't getting any bigger + most people who have any interest in DoW2 already know of the mod so changing the name now might just cause some random confusion.

Agreed.

You'd need to keep it close enough to the original name so as to avoid the risk of people suddenly getting lost and thinking the mod as discontinued rather than renamed that it'd beat the point of renaming it anyways. Hardly a reason to change it, and if it goes through you'd need to suddenly rename everything that has the mod's name in it too.

What about DOW3?

You want it to be short like it is. You want it to be the same so it doesn't confuse people. There's nothing wrong about it. It's fine.

I think you meant "Chaos mod"

Something like "Community mod" or "legacy mod" would sound nice aswell and not discourage ppl, because its called "elite".

I think Cael at one point admitted that Elite was a bad choice of name for the mod, and I reckon he has a point, but I think that Elite has also built a recognisable name for itself, so maybe changing it would make it more obscure? I don't know.
