There is very little in terms of "fracture", DoW II was an inherently different game to vDoW and garnered a different playerbase over time. If DoW III doesn't mind that rift a bit, at least it's marketable to a wider demographic in the meantime.

That is true over the long term, but near release is when you get the most players and also the biggest sense of community. Being "part of something" is important for overall enjoyment of the game; at least, to me.

Plus, in my little corner of the world & bizarre time zone there needs to be a lot of people on line for matchmaking. I am hoping for a lot of players picking up the game at release.

Well yeah that's fair enough, but flanking in DoW III has other benefits. It does not deny cover unless the opponent leaves theirs, it does not make retreat dangerous but since units can't retreat they have to sluggishly walk through an enemy line or risk going forward. Setup teams have no arc so that is one less advantage but there are other advantages in flanking in DoW III that are ********NDA-NDA-NDA-NDA-NDA-NDA*********

Flanking is actually a disadvantage in DoWII because then the enemy unit is on the correct side of his cover Image.

flanking in dow2 wasn't implemented really well, Because You have to be literally behind them to remove the cover bonus. An\d to do that you would have to go way around to the point where you are behind their lines. Although when it is done correctly it is devastating.

If I could change the cover system it would be that rather that units gain cover benefits for a weapon thats firing at them depending on where to fire is coming from. Like everything in a 90 degree angle that's firing at the squad in cover then that squad gains full benefits. Then the 45 degree angles on either side of that 90 degree (to make 180) the cover benefits are diminished a bit. Like light cover now only grants 10% range damage reduction and a 10% reduction to received accuracy.

Idk if that makes sense. I tried to do what i could.

So the benefits of cover would be reduced in accordance to how far away from the front the shots are coming from?

Hey, i found some directional cover in DOW3. This video from about 0:59 seconds to 1:03 the guardian shots are blocked by the terrain.

Whilst DOW3 does look in all ways abysmal, I shall say on thing - you should never pre-order a game. Just on principle ,even if you know it will be brilliant. It is a horrible thing for the gaming industry as a whole. And developers/publishers shouldn't get rewarded for encouraging it but punished. It lets them get away with releases broken buggy games from the outset and patch them up slowly with 10% of their dev team whilst the other 90% work on DLC and/or other games.

Don't pre-order things...

Definitely agree with Torpid - pre-ordering, as well as buying low-effort DLC ends up rewarding companies for behaviours that ought to be discouraged. As a consumer of video games, the average person has no direct say in the design process of video games... so our only power comes from speaking with our wallets.

MOBAs, the typically free-to-play genre, sell better.
