Didn't know you did reviews, Max 8-)
He sounds just like you.

As for gameplay, looks like a Starcraft clone, but nice animations when you forget about the Force Commander.
The internal battery has run dry, the game can now be played. However, clock based events will no longer occur.

It looks awsome! Much better than what I expected. Specially melee combat looks good while ASM fights Banshees.

I think you're all way too nihilistic. The graphics are pre alpha and actually look decent, and the animations are good quality, despite the Super Gabriel Brothers.

Doomsday isn't nigh, no need to overreact.

I suppose not having a computer strong enough to play it will be a blessing. At least I'll be thinking 'it can't be THAT bad' without knowing how bad it's gonna be.

For the people not speaking the master race language:

- only 3 factions playable (so no 4th like some rumors told, there might be a 4th one occuring as villain/ally in the SP campaign though)
- only cover mechanic are these "bubbly" shield generators you can see in the clips, they will prevent/reduce incoming range fire
- before each battle you have to chose 3 elite units to complement your army, they vary from Gabriel Angelos to the Imperial Knight and Assault Terminators (in case of SM)
- elite units will level up to 10 and you can take your leveled up units from campaign to multiplayer (and vice versa?)

So yeah not much relevant information given. :?

I concur. The ripping on the game is super premature right now. Dawn of War 3 seems like it's going to be different from Dawn of War 2 which was different from Dawn of War 1. That doesn't make it bad just by being different.

Also, didn't they went overboard with "large battles"? Gameplay shown has 1v1 (late game?) encounter and it is already hard to see because of all the effects. From what I've read, major part of the game is going to be about using unit's abilities. Imagine mid-late game 2v2 battle with all the crap flying around (and you already know those abilities have to be flashy to generate enough "WOW")

Overall, best part of the video was "pre-alpha footage" line at the bottom of screen

I'm fucking stoked. The only thing I'm slightly sad about seems to be the lack of the original voice actor for Gabriel Angelos. It really didn't sound like him, but oh well - Can't like everything that's new.

But I digged the visuals, the effects, animations - the whole jazz tbh.

-Gabriel was scaled up about 5X compared to the other models around him
-No cover, and very plain battlefield terrain in general
-Lots of over-the-top visual effects
-Abilities that shred entire units
-Lots of bouncy-castle knockback effects

It looks like the MOBA/MMORPG cancer has spread to the 40K universe. Too bad, the 40k universe is so rich and begs for games that aren't a cartoony joke. Maybe this pre-alpha footage is nothing like what the game will actually be, but my hopes are as low as they can get right now.

Seriously, if Dragonball Z and World Wresting Entertainment gang raped the 40K universe, this game would be the resulting rape baby. Every time I watch that video I get more angry.

So... i kinda liked it myself. We dont know anything about DLC and other bullshit like that so im not criticizing that. The units seemed fluid in their animations for pre alpha, the few shots of base building seemed cool and solid and the gore was nice. My only gripe was the cover system but we will see how that goes. I was kinda disappointed by the first screens but now i am a little more positive

I feel like some of these effects are far too over the top, like the ASM jumping in / landing.
No cover :(

Weeelp, not much of a fan of the glitter – I’m mostly just getting vibes of a “maybe people will give us more money if we make it look like Blizzard” line of thought from all that. Which is a legit direction of reasoning, except that the look doesn’t fit 40K and that the Blizzard look is absolutely godawful in general.

As for gameplay, it looks like a campaign setting there, so not much to guess on. For example, DoW2 campaign gameplay was frankly shitty, while I think they nailed the MP gameplay (the concept, if not all the details) rather nicely. So it follows DoW3 campaign and PvP gameplay might differ a bunch too.

On the fence about it until release, I guess, but I must admit the glitter, Super Gabe Bros, messy-looking gameplay, etc. is not making me especially hyped so far.

The scale, I think we can expect to be the definitive scale of the game, considering the lag they had running this I would guess this is more or less the final product as far as graphics/size of the squads and units usable in game, now of course they will add more effects, adjust lighting and so on, but I think they will mostly work on optimizing the code from now on which means it won't look much better than this (imo), the scale is also disappointing, they went for graphics that are very underwhelming in 2016, especially when you compare them to a large scale game recently released (total war warhammer) and yet the scale of the game doesn't seem bigger than DoW1, a game from 2004 that at the time had cutting edge graphics and details of models and in the sync kills for the time, aswell as a rather large scale for the time it was developed in.

I like how I saw the assault terminators just freezing in place and not doing anything while the third one swung his hammer around.
