2.9.3 Testing Tournament #4

Postby Impregnable » Sun 23 Feb, 2020 6:28 pm

- The organizer has the right to alter any rules during the tournament to adapt to various needs that arise.
- I will refrain from altering rules during the tournament as best as I can in order to keep consistency in applying rules but will not hesitate to intervene if the need arises.

Preamble
- This will be the testing tournament for 2.9.3. There will be multiple tournaments like this and these tournaments will be used for feedback which will be applied to next patch and also for bug fixings.
- Below are balance issues that were raised the most in 2.9.2 that I hope we can see if they are mitigated in this new patch.
1/ IG dominance
- 1 Sent + 3 or more GMs into Chimera rush
2/ Tyranids pressure build
- 3 Hormagaunts + 2 Raveners with spore mine pressure
3/ SM performing badly
4/ And of course new OM need to be tested

- As for reporting of bugs, you can use traditional methods like posting them on forum or Discord or you can contact our new bug fixing magician named Shoulder Mount directly.
Steam - https://steamcommunity.com/id/domgmelol/

1. When does it start?
Date: February 29th Saturday
Time: 5 pm UTC
Convert to your timezone here >>> https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ ... =1440&ah=6
WARNING: THIS IS NOT 5PM IN YOUR LOCAL TIME. MUST CLICK ON THE LINK TO CONVERT TO YOUR LOCAL TIME.

2. Who can join?
Anyone can join regardless of the skill level.

3. What is the format?
Victory Point Control: 500 VPs
Starting Location: Random
Resources: Standard
- The tournament will be played in the 1 v 1 format.
- The tournament will be played on the 2.9.3 patch.
- It's going to be a double elimination tournament and we'll play as many signups as possible.

4. Hosting and Refereeing.
1. Turning on ESL reporter is mandatory.
2. There will be no referees for this one so I expect each player to know rules by his or her heart.
3. Would be great if observing players can help out players in game in regards to rules.
4. Players should contact each other and one of the player has to host the room.
5. One of the player should contact the organizer regarding scores after the match in order to make brackets proceed.
6. The organizer will be present to help in case of the trouble so contact the organizer asap if there is any trouble.

5. Maps & hero picks.
Map Picking First -> Hero Picking Second

Map Pick - Applies to all matches
- Map pick is always done first before the Hero Pick.
- The same map can only be played once in a BO.
- Maps that are variants of other maps, such as Calderis Refinery and Valderus Refinery, will count as one map.
- Each player can veto 1 map during a match. That map is then banned for the rest of the BO.
- The player on the top bracket(Top of the box) always casts a veto first.

Hero Pick - Applies to all matches
- You can only play your heroes once each match.
- Each player has 1 hero veto per match. The veto only lasts for 1 game.
- This means veto is not possible in the last match of BO5 because each player will end up with only 1 hero to pick.
- The player who picked random cannot exercise hero veto right.
Example
Enemy hero options - (BC, FC, Apo, TM, WB)
Match 1 - You banned BC out of (BC, FC, Apo, TM, WB), The opponent picked FC out of (FC, Apo, TM, WB)
Match 2 - You banned BC out of (BC, Apo, TM, WB), The opponent picked Apo out of (Apo, TM, WB)
Match 3 - You banned WB out of (BC, TM, WB), The opponent picked BC out of (BC, TM)
Match 4 - You banned TM out of (WB, TM), The opponent picked WB because WB is the only hero available after banning
Match 5 - You cannot exercise ban because the opponent is left with only 1 unpicked hero(TM)

10. Seeding
Seeding is done according to below principles. Your league results, groups and divisions do have influence on seeding.
1) BYE are filled first from the top BYE to the bottom one using below principles based on the final result of the group stage.
- Division A finalist/ 1st place ~> last place
- Division A non finalist/ Group A/ 1st place -> last place -> Group B/ 1st place -> last place

- Division B finalist/ 1st place ~> last place
- Division B non finalist/ Group A/ 1st place -> last place -> Group B/ 1st place -> last place

- Joined the league before but not the latest one/ Applies the same rule from above using the most recent league he or she joined. Only applies if the most recent League he or she joined is one of 2 directly previous Leagues from the current one.
- Never joined the league/ The organizer seeds arbitrarily.

2) The rest of positions in the bracket is filled starting from the top to the bottom using below principles based on the final result of the group stage.
- Division A finalist/ 1st place -> last place -> 2nd place -> 2nd last place -> 3rd place -> 3rd last place -> 4th place -> 4th last place -> Repeat same pattern
- Division A non finalist Group A/ 1st place -> last place -> Group B/ 1st place -> last place -> Repeat same pattern

- Division B finalist/ 1st place -> last place -> 2nd place -> 2nd last place -> 3rd place -> 3rd last place -> 4th place -> 4th last place -> Repeat same pattern
- Division B non finalist/ Group B/ 1st place ~> last place -> Group B/ 1st place -> last place -> Repeat same pattern

- Joined the league before but not the latest one/ Applies the same rule from above using the most recent league he or she joined. Only applies if the most recent League he or she joined is one of 2 directly previous Leagues from the current one.
- Never joined the league/ The organizer seeds arbitrarily.
