Monthly Team Tournament 2 on Saturday August 27th - Prize

Postby Impregnable » Wed 17 Aug, 2016 5:53 am

Check this thread to understand procedures better
- viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2760
- The tournament will be at August 27th UTC 17:00. Use the link below for converting time
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/f ... =1440&ah=8

Preamble
- I got some hard lessons about setting up brackets and seeding players from Atlas so I will be well prepared about them this time. Sorry about all the confusion regarding brackets last time. Brackets will be up a day before at the least
- There were some minor changes for the rules so please do read them through

General Rules
- The tournament will be played in the 2 v 2 format.
- The tournament will be welcome to All Skill Levels.
- The tournament will be played on the 2.5.1 patch.

To enter provide the following information in a reply below:
- Your steam account name with Steam link. If you have trouble with this, let us know.
- Your 3 commander choices or random (If you choose random, you cannot pick other heroes at all. Pick such as (WS, FS, Random) is not allowed)
- If you're participating as a team, please give the name of your teammate as well. Their own linking of the Steam name and heroes will be considered a confirmation.
- As a bit of flavoring, we'd encourage teams to also come up with a team name. It's not a requirement, but it adds to the flavor of a team tournament. If you don't make up a team name, I will generate one by combining two players' ID.
- Note that you can participate in the tournament without having a teammate ready to go. We'll assign you an available teammate on the day of the tournament should you need it by selecting from the reserves.
- To retrieve your own Steam profile link, in your main Steam profile page, right click on your own picture and click "Copy Page URL". Once that is done, paste it into your post. A valid link should look something like http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198078148937/.

- Casters and streamers are more than welcome.
- Referee volunteers are welcome for keeping rules and saving replays

Rules
- It's going to be a single elimination tournament (no losers' bracket) and we'll play as many signups as possible.
- All the matches will be best of 3 except the finals which will be best of 5.
- Stronger player will be placed in BYE to give weaker players opportunities to participate in more games.

Format
Victory Point Control: 500 VPs
Starting Location: Random
Resources: Standard

Map Picks
- Maps are always selected before hero picks.
- Each Player can choose to ban a map before the start of series. That map will be banned for the entirety of that series. Players can decide not to do so. It can be only done before the start of the series so choose carefully.
- The first starting map cannot be banned
- The first map of a round will be shown in the bracket page so please take a look there before the start of the tournament.
- After this, the map pick will be the losing team's choice.
- Only maps in the map pool may be played to be considered a valid tournament match.
- No map can be played more than once within a match. Each team will have the option to veto a single map at the start of a series, excluding the first round map. Maps that are variants of other maps, such as Pale Tooth Gorge and Green Tooth Gorge, will count as one map and can't be selected in the same round.

Hero Picks
- The team in the top bracket will lock in their commanders first for the first game. Next game the team in the bottom bracket will lock into their commanders first, alternating like this between teams until the final game. In the final game of the round, game 3 or 5 depending on the format, the losers of the previous game will pick the map and then their heroes first.
- To check out who is on the top and bottom of your cell bracket, just look at the Brackets page. If your team is on top of the pair, you're the top of the bracket. If your team is on bottom of the pair, you're the bottom of the bracket.
- Once the tournament starts, you'll only be able to select among that pool of heroes or only Random if you selected Random. Note that nothing requires you to play as all of your pre-selected heroes; you're free to use just 1 hero through the whole tournament if you prefer.

Map Pool
Argus Desert Gate
Ashes of Typhon
Calderis Refinery / Valderus Refinery
Desert Showdown
Golgotha Depths
Hydris Chasm
Judgement of Carrion
Medean Cliff Mines
Meridian High City
Ruins of Argus
Tharsis Forg

Disconnections
When a game ends prematurely for whatever reason, three things can happen:

The players agree on a winner.
The players agree to replay.
The players don't come to an agreement. A referee or tournament organizer will make the decision for them using whatever information is available. That decision will be final and without discussion so the tournament can go on as smoothly as possible. Failure to comply will result in tournament ejection on the offending party.

Extra Players
Observers
- No private observers allowed

Referees
Any volunteer referees are welcome. Contact [EL] Impregnable through forum's private message or my email: yyj-101@hanmail.net

Referees are expected to be able to:
- Be in the tournament chat room some time before the tournament starts.
- Help people find their opponents.
- Resolve disputes between players after watching the replays.
- Referees can't play in the tournament.
- Save and send me replays after each match
- Referees have first say on rulings. If there is a dispute between refs and players, the dispute is brought up to the tournament organizers. The organizers will have final say on the matter.

Streamers
- One or more Primary Streamers will be designated prior to tournament start, and will ideally be 2 teams of a caster and co-caster.
- The main benefit of being a Primary Caster is priority in covering games. They are allowed first dibs on lobbies should they choose to exercise it.
- Other streamers are still free to stream as well as possibly earning compensation, so long as they meet the other requirements.
- Primary Casters can be designated and demoted by the tournament organizer at any time should the organizer see it fit.
- Streamers are also required to save and send me replays after each match

Casters
- This applies for those who want to get replays after tourney is done for casting.

Prizes
- No prizes yet unless people are donating. If the prizes are donated, below rules will apply

The actual prize pool will be shown in each MRT registration thread.
- Typically, prizes are granted in the form of Steam games, but on occasion there will be actual prize money.
- If both teammates on the same team want a particular prize, I'll award it to the one I first received the request from. If there are two copies of that peculiar game, there will be no problem.

The prize pool will be allocated as follows:
- 2 prizes to the winner of the final match of the tournament
- 1 prize to the second place team of the tournament

Prizes
According to Black Relic
- The winners can choose as long as it's not a heavy price tag. I can part with 30 to 40 dollars. If both players (since it is a team effort) keep it within that price range, all they have to do is add me and I'll gift it to them.
- Or they can have Battlefleet Gothic: Armada if one of the players wants it.
- If there are not more than 6 teams participating, prize won't be given.
- Price wasn't given because there were too few teams. Black Relic wanted to give price when the tourney have more participants next time.

If so, I think you can be both the referee and the streamer for a bracket. Will put your name on both.

I would suggest to participants that they bring a counter to beaacon and mass melee play. Perhaps try double warlocks with immolator?

Choosing maps with huge outskirts with 2 eldar and going full guerrilla with gates and etc could be very good too. As fast as a truck and a razorback can be, they are nothing compared to fully utilized eldar mobility.

Black Relic agreed to give a steam game price for this tournament. Although he didn't specify which game it is, indeed finally there is a price at stake.

Oh dear this is an ill turnout. I get back on Tuesday afternoon, I can plaster this all over the Steam group and even other forums then, unless someone else wants to create an announcement beforehand.

Also @impregnable speak to me Tuesday afternoon, I'll you on Steam, can sort out streamer rights plus possible other brackets if you wish.
The internal battery has run dry, the game can now be played. However, clock based events will no longer occur.

Edit: I work that day to them getting their prize will be delayed.

Personally I would like it to change it to a different date. I don't want the prize to be fought over between 4 teams yea know? Kinda want a decently large torny with like 10 teams or something.

Plus I would like to enter as well/watch/stream. But I work on that day.

A side note: I would say we might need to start announcing these 2v2 tournaments about 2 months ahead of time so people can make time in the schedule. Might also have to make these thing a bit less common as well so it hypes people up.

I think you should withdraw your price if there are less than 6 teams signing up until saturday. This is a monthly thing so I think people know when it is happening next. It is always the last weekend of a month. In case of moving it on the other date, it is impossible for me to do so unless people want it to be moved to this sunday because I have some real life concerns.
