Modding, getting into it

Postby VanDietsland » Wed 18 Mar, 2015 7:41 pm

I want to play around with some modding, learn a bit or two, model work. What tools do I need for Dawn of war 2. Can anyone help me what tools I need? Eventualy I want to be able to contribute.

Cool :)

For modelling, you'll need Autodesk 3DS Studio Max (you can get a student version for free for 3 years I think), the Santos Tools scripts that match the 3DS Max version, and the Santos Tools 2 Model Editor v0.7.0 Dev. I can't post links now, but when I get home, I'll post working links to the files unless someone else gets to it first.

Here's the Model Editor, which you should paste in the Tools folder in the Dawn of War - Retribution folder: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6Ktn5 ... sp=sharing

Thanks, I got the Student version, both Santos tools. Need anything else?
And as I thought, I need some guidance.

I'd recommend going to this thread: http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread. ... 2-released!

and going through some of the tutorials in the first post, as well as looking up some tutorials for 3DS max, like how to make UV maps for texturing, model making in general, how the application's functions work and stuff like that.

Sterling might be able to give some insight too, he has much more experience using and exporting from 3DS max than I do.

That's nice but the Leman Russ is already a jack of all trades and to add those upgrades puts huge favours on the IG faction. I know it's hard to resist wanting everything from tabletop in the game but some things might be a little too good. ;)

Otherwise we might end up with Predator Executiors and Spartan Assault tanks.
The internal battery has run dry, the game can now be played. However, clock based events will no longer occur.

Hi guys, although this is kinda late but RelicNews forum has been down for a while now and I am unable to locate the Santos Scripts. I also have no cule if the Santos Tools you upload is still the latest version. Would you mind posting the files for the Scripts? That would be very helpful!
