Re: suggestion buff gk and nuff eldar

And banshees are alien witches wielding blades infused with eldritch energies, that slice through armour and (if we're looking for reasons here) cause additional damage with all the molten metal it leaves in the wounds after they're done cutting. Anyways if you want to be outraged you're better off...

Re: suggestion buff gk and nuff eldar

Checked on Wikipedia. You are right that the English archers had lighter armor and it was a partial advantage against the French. But the French, unlike assault marines, couldn't fly and weren't supermen with motorized suits of armor.

Re: suggestion buff gk and nuff eldar

Unfortunately, power melee, as you said, is already goddamn everywhere. Eldar Banshees get power melee in T1. Ork Stormboyz get power melee in T1. Imperial Guard Catachans... not quite on that level, but still power melee in T1 on a squad with 2 sources of knockback. Tyranids get warriors, who can g...

Re: suggestion buff gk and nuff eldar

It doesn't make sense that wearing more armor makes models die faster in melee. Wearing heavy armor cannot be a penalty in terms of damage you take. At Agincourt the French knights found their heavy armour a real penalty against the lighter-armoured English... Tell me again how the English longbowm...

Re: suggestion buff gk and nuff eldar

I actually agree with the power sword thing. Currently, melee does full damage to a model with heavy armor, while power melee gets a 1.3 modifier. As a result, if 2 otherwise identical models fight each other with power swords, the model with more armor dies first. It doesn't make sense that wearing...

yeah... if you're relying on a power fist on a vanguard veteran squad to take down a Great Unclean One, you're gonna have a bad time. Predators are a lot like scouts, they're incredibly good when microed well, but die easily when you forget about them. You shouldn't be using the power fist to kill ...

Re: Patch 2.3.1 (Tentative balance changelog preview)

Yes, I understand that we should make a unit that allows people to recover from initial mistakes. But what we should NOT do is make a unit that is simply not effective when we don't make mistakes. The game should encourage good play. We lock the player out of getting certain units when he plays bad ...

Re: Patch 2.3.1 (Tentative balance changelog preview)

I don't think so. The Sternguard squad itself is a wonder of unit design; a truly all-purpose infantry squad that can be used to fill any missing niche and to provide emergency sources of additional firepower against specific target types, but not strong enough to simply erase every single unit by c...

Re: Patch 2.3.1 (Tentative balance changelog preview)

Seeing as both varieties of Terminators, Sternguard and Vanguard are all veterans, I think I have an idea to make all of them capable of deep-striking. We can rework Drop Pod so that it deploys Sternguard straight into battle and we remove the upgrade from tactical space marines. Reinforcement point...

Re: Is Wraithlord balanced wrt to other walkers?

Yeah, hence the statement that walker ranged weapons should be modified so as to make them unable to fire while the walker is engaging in close combat. I think it is working the way it is because the walker models are so big their backside is considered to be not in melee range or something.

Re: Is Wraithlord balanced wrt to other walkers?

I agree with what Ace of Swords said about the brightlance. The only reason the Space Marine Dreadnought can fire its AV weapon on the move is because it's a multi-melta with the puny range associated with melta weapons. The brightlance has enough range to do so while stationary. But the Wraithlord ...

Re: Warlock T3, Seer Council powers?

Frenzy, unlike Providence, does not provide immunity to weapon knockback. As a result, things like shotgun blast from Space Marine Scouts, the frag grenade from Inquisitorial Storm Troopers, artillery, etc. all serve to counter frenzy, most of which cannot knockback a warlock on Providence. Providen...

Providence already provides weapon knockback immunity, according to Codex. It also allows you to spam destructor/immolate for splash damage and use Ethereal Slash to initiate, because you're invincible. Not a single one of the other invincibility abilities allow you to spam abilities either. For ins...

Jump them or use disruption on them. Considering them being tier 3 specialized ranged units, I suspect you're supposed to do so anyway.

I think I know what is different between what you are thinking and what I'm thinking. I see sternguard as micro-intensive soft-counters to everything (including vehicles)...

Re: Patch 2.3.1 (Tentative balance changelog preview)

Suppose you remove the plasma gun. What would we replace it with? Meltaguns are undesirable, given their overlapping role as AV with missile launchers, as well as overlapping with vengeance AND kraken rounds on Sternguard, thus defeating the point of removing the plasma gun in the first place. If we...

Re: The Codex WIP

It may be a good idea to include in the Codex that you can choose where Orbital Bombardment and Rocket Run target, as you cannot do so with Roks, Eldritch Storm, Tyrannoformation and Empyreal Abyss. The fact that Orbital Bombardment lands 3 beams should be added as well.

Re: What to do after Chaos Sorcerer + Triple Tic Open?

Got it, thanks. Why would noise marines be better against shottie scouts? Wouldn't a havoc suppress them from a lot further? I'd say it has to do with the fact that the scouts can conceivably throw grenades onto your havocs, due to firing arcs, set-up time and stuff like that. Noise Marines have no...

Catachans are decent at destroying raptors in close combat and providing disruption and heavy weapons squads are al...

I'll use Space Marines to illustrate what I think about the thornback carnifex because I love space marines, and the thornback carnifex is similar to the venerable dreadnought/dark age of technology dreadnought. The Thornback carnifex is like the 2 Dreadnoughts in that they have a charge, are tier 3...

Re: How are terminators balanced wrt nobs?

(Assault) Terminators are NOT hard-capped. It's just that you need to survive another 7 minutes before you can summon more. I'm not so sure whether normal terminators and assault terminators share cooldown as well. If you don't want to take the long way home, buy a Land Raider. It provides a reinfor...
