if steam is not installed on the same drive as ret then the installer will screw up. you just need to change the path when installing for it to work.

you also need to run retail once before elite.

eh, i'll get it and check. EDIT: nope. not sure what it uses but the file extensions are .jfs and .jfslist for the most part. animations are listed in text files. they might be easily convertible but i have no idea what engine they're using and i don't think they're using essence with different file...

apologies for not getting back sooner but i couldn't find the thread... :oops:

i didn't have any luck though. the fx editor wouldn't open any of them and santos' tools doesn't seem to have anyway to import vfx. i know santos has an account on this site and you could try PMing him; i'm out of ideas.

it's really just clawminators. banshees don't have much problem with hammers, although they will lose in a 1v1 just because of the health difference.

dump it in the main ret folder. the fx editor won't work properly unless its folder is in a folder in the main folder. matryoshka dolls....

fairly difficult actually. i assume the vfx editor can display vfx so you could cut it from there with a transparent green/pink/cyan background and use it from there. it might not look right though, because i'm not sure if you can move the effects. if that is the case you'd have to get a uni-colour ...

they can change some of it, but not much. i suspect changes to those pathing values they can change (as opposed to things like unit turning speed) would be more expensive.
