Re: Eldar detection and Destructor
Is it possible to have the gates* reveal themselves when a squad (detector or no) comes within, say, range 10 or so? This would solve two problems - non-detectors don't have to hug the gate in order to shoot it, and finding a gate in the first place with a non-detector wouldn't require them to liter...

Re: Chaos Space Marine Topic
Castle, I think what you're running up against is 1. Historically, the CL has been a very popular commander choice in retail. Out of necessity, most long-time players have had a lot of experience honing their anti-CL play. 2. A lot of the high profile/top level chaos players are playing sorc right n...

Re: What lies in the future?
I think there are some interesting ways you could represent the resurrection mechanic that wouldn't necessarily come down to a die roll and a free model. Maybe let them slowly reinforce in the field if they shut down (i.e. don't move or shoot) or if a squad dies it can be repurchased at HQ at 50% of...

Re: Grey Knights Topic
I apologize for my snark. I was talking about a specific matchup (sluggas v strike team) and how annoying the strike team's special attack was, and that it was more devastating than banshee specials. I could reasonably be accused of hyperbole on the latter, as having watched Indrid's video it looks ...

LOL at the guy who says it's worse than fighting banshees, for all the forementioned reasons riku presented. it's eldar all over again. People are complaining they're getting stomped by them, yet can't play them for some odd reason. hmm how interesting. And for people complaining about special atta...

Re: Grey Knights Topic
Both the brother captain and strike squad have absurd specials that fling shit far and wide. At the very least the strike squad needs to have the knockback force reduced. It's a very big gamble attacking either with sluggas, because you can go from solidly winning the fight at 60-70% health down to ...

Re: The "Lets Help this @!$%'ing Noob get Better" Thread.
@Badass, Regarding your first point, I honestly think that for some matchups no amount of fancy micro will yield you a win in the first engagement if both players really commit to a fight. In those cases, you have to play at guerrilla warfare until you get power for sent stomp/other upgrades. Use yo...

Re: Suggestion for Keeping Track of Units
I would not like this. I was thinking about this too. It's kinda the old-vet-player-reaction "ZOMG, I actually have skillz and stuff since I can remember which unit is what hotkey so I don't muck up my micro mid-battle. Back in my day we had no choice but to do that, why do you guys all get it...

Re: Space Marine Topic
@Indrid Suppression at range is normally useful for countering ranged squads, and the TM does a fine job of that with his starter bolter. If you're looking for spot suppression up close, scouts get it for cheap, and it comes with a substantial dps upgrade and does knockdown, too. @Asmon He can't swi...

Re: Space Marine Topic
I don't suggest decreasing the cooldown at all. I'd like a decrease in energy cost. I'm even suggesting INcreasing the cooldown if that what it takes to get the energy cost down. Basically, the MCB is his only ranged upgrade against regular infantry armor and it gives him like a 5% dps increase and ...

Re: Space Marine Topic
Another somewhat minor techmarine issue - 60 energy seems high for the high powered shot ability on the MCB. For reference, the plasma gun overcharge is 50 energy and has a slightly shorter cooldown (45 sec vs 50). 60 energy makes it difficult to combo with his other wargear except for the bionics s...

Re: Chaos Space Marine Topic
If malignant blindness reduced range to zero it'd be like commissar flare-ing the whole damn map. Not only could you use it get your melee troops into melee but you could use it auto-win any ranged fight. That sounds grossly OP, or like a 200+ red ability. If there was a way to tell your melee squad...
Re: 2.2 beta
i hate subjugate and i want it gone. it takes a fight and gives one player a net loss of two units because he lost one and is now fighting an additional enemy one. As much as I hate subjugate, I have to say this isn't true. Look at it like this 5 units chaos 5 units SM (for example) Sorc uses subju...

Re: Space Marine Topic
When I suggested the regen aura I was thinking on the order of 5 hp/sec (standard repair is 10 hp/sec) to a radius of 7 or so. My thinking was, if a ranged TM can still fight while repairing a AC dread, why shouldn't a melee TM get to do something similar with a melee dread at a decreased repair rat...

That or giving him a minor regen aura that applies only to vehicles would be pretty cool. He could fight side by side with a ven dread and repair it at the same time.

Re: Kommando Nob
IMO it's the dps + infiltration since it enables easy-ish rear armor hits that make it a T3 weapon. The ability is good but a little flaky - if you target the right squad it will practically kill it, and you target the wrong squad it does nearly nothing. Some combination of the right armor type, HP/...

Re: Space Marine Topic
What? The Apothecary has a melee charge and loses it if he gets the bolter. In fact he gets an improved melee charge if he gets the sanguine chainsword. The apo still has his charge with the bolter, btw. I just tried it out a few nights ago. Tooltips do say the TM should have a charge attack with t...

Re: Chaos Space Marine Topic
Let's not forget Elite made them faster and cheaper at the same time they lost their ability to self heal, so they're a more reliable AV squad now.
They are still good as a quasi anti melee squad due to their slow aura, too.

Re: Bugs/Issues Thread
I dunno if this has been mentioned, but issuing a movement order followed immediately by a repair order will often send squad leaders off to the original destination while the squad goes off to do the repairs. Try it with guardsmen + sent. It's easy enough to correct (just tell them to move to the v...

It sounds like he's saying I was wrong. And if that's the case, why doesn't the TM get a charge attack with the axe? The tooltip says he should.

Re: Space Marine Topic
What are people's thoughts on the TM power axe? Messing around with it, it seems like it does OK damage for a T2 weapon , the energy drain on it is great, and it's cheap. However, SO SLOW. Since he doesn't have a melee charge and the swing speed is so slow, he spends most of his time walking around ...

AoS, here is the changelog , which I assume is fairly up to date. Wartrukk used to be 180/20, not 180/30. There's a good mix of nerfs and buffs in there. Nob frenzy got the shit nerfed out of it. The blood crusher still has some really nice advantages over the deff dread: charge, shout, worship heal...

Re: Ork Topic
That's the problem I have with the wargear: it requires a lot resources to buy and requires a combo to use. Just teleporting in doesn't work because 5 seconds is ample time to kill a mek standing in the middle of a hostile T3 army, plus getting knocked over stops or delays the ability (he has to be ...

Re: Bugs/Issues Thread
Damage from Apoth purification vials lasts way longer than the visual indicates. The green goop left behind by the explosion disappears after about 5 seconds but the AoE damage lasts about 15. Units also complain about being in close combat when taking damage from the nade, but that's hardly a big d...
