Being weak in melee is an explicit downside for gm they should never be good in melee in relation to the tier they are in. Thus even with a sarge they suck in melee and even with a commissar they suck in melee (in relation to t2 units...) And you have to think that dire avengers are all technically ...

spotters are a counter to setup units in the same way you can say catachans are a counter to setup units. in that if you force off said set up unit in the time it takes for it to set back up or get its range back then yeah sure spotters are a counter. 60 power is considered a rather light T1 in most cases tbh. I tend to do 60 power when I go light and up to 150 when I go heavy. agreed. the current version of both units dont have enough field presence to justify a power bleed . I would rather the cost increase be moved to the infiltration upgrade since normal snipers , as i said, kind of lack the field presence to justify the reinforce hike. but that is not so much the case...

And as stated before, they give as much XP as GM models. Doesn't seem something out of the ordinary. Well keep in mind that guardsmen also have 25 more hp and don't have to get in melee to do damage. a better reason would be that they are composed of units that need more effort to actually be good. higher floor and ceiling means a greater variety of opinions since they would require more skill to actually nail down.

the only thing about setups i can comment on is the new ig heavy weapons team. good lord they are so easy to kill off with aoe damage now. immolate is a hard counter to them now rather than the soft counter it is to most other setups. if they dont move , it will pretty much almost off them by itself...
