Re: Why are Scout Marine bolters so ineffective?
Note I was planning to edit my post here to make it way more clear and concise, but replying to you would probably work just as well. If it is balanced to have that tremendously powerful combination (OP combination, no other word fits better here, does anyone think here that GK have a balanced combi...

Re: Why are Scout Marine bolters so ineffective?
@ sub Zero So just to answer a few questions- scouts always have melee resist aura, can you imagine how quickly they would go down without it? Consider for a moment that most melee squads have higher raw dps than ranged squads, then consider how quickly scouts get eviscerated at range. So yes they d...

Rebuy mechanic sounds terrible if the cost reduction is significant at all- eg 50% cheaper would make the asm serg 50/12.5, which is about the same price as an asm model... 25 less req and 7 power more.
There needs to be more thought about specific numbers if it's to work.

I dunno I actually think you're agreeing with Cyris if you're claiming that this assessment is obvious. Cyris is saying that kcsm are well balanced and aren't shit- in the right circumstances with support they can wreck face, but without those they're underwhelming, implying they probably occupy a n...

Re: Advanced Strategy: Thinking beyond the micro & build orders
Considering that my situation has changed, and I have no time for games, I think that it's time to draw a final line under this guide. I hope many people have benefited from its teachings. EDIT: Changed preface to be up-to-date. Acknowledged the lack of replays to likely be permanent. I do hope to c...

Balance Discussion Guidelines- PLEASE READ
NOTE: I ask everyone, whether they're new to our community or hardened veterans, to read these Guidelines at least once, and to abide by them. That way there will be no excuse of "I didn't know that was a rule". With the recent influx of newer community members (which is to our benefit), ...

Just fyi, I'm going to start taking a harder line on L2P NOOB responses on the Balance Discussions. Our community has been seen by various people as rather unwelcoming, and let's be honest we want this community to expand and not contract.

Re: Why are Scout Marine bolters so ineffective?
Ok, a couple points to start off: Firstly, thanks for putting some degree of effort into your post. You've made your grievances clear and there can be no ambiguity what the situation is. So that's already infinitely better than someone saying OMG DIS SO OP or THIS CHANGE NEEDS TO HAPPEN JUST BECAUSE...

Re: KCSM
I feel KCSM are great and are one of the more undervalued units in the game. I'm not sure I would stray into OP, but they are often underestimated. They are also much stronger in 1v1, although that's not to say they are bad in 3v3. In fact, I think they are strong in 3v3, it just takes finesse to ma...

Re: Tyranid horma and termagaunts
First and foremost, it's not necessary to take such a hostile tone, it's rather alienating at best. The part of his post which jumps out at me, though, is his suggestion the flame resist be taken away. There's a very good reason that they have that armour type, and it's not because of fluff. It's be...

As far as I can tell the only useful and informative post that is in this discussion is salty's. Dullahan, if you want to suggest that something is UP or OP, you have to give reasons for that assessment. This is true of all balance discussions. Dandy, your comment is pretty much unhelpful. Even if h...

You did prove it wrong! I never disagreed with your overall point, but what you said isn't true and might be taken by less experienced players as a rule of thumb as to what makes heals good. Which is just isn't. There is no need to get so touchy, I'm not being contrary for the sake of it. The reason...

Re: Fire Dragons
I disagree. Heal is best on units that have a great tankiness and damage output balance. Think of it this way- banshees of old were some of the best units to heal due to their chase potential, their damage output, great melee skill and fantastic special combined with a great damage type. On the othe...

Re: setup team (HWT,deva,havoc,suriken...etc) HP decrease for 3v3.
Yeah, heavy armour suppression teams become so much better, until you realise that grenades would always virtually instagib those havocs or devastators, since explosive does double damage to heavy armour. Grenades used to do instagib setups back in vanilla, maybe around 1.4? Thank god they don't any...

Asmon I think is just saying that he believes the only good retreat chasing synergy is swift movement, and it's definitely the best. It's harder to achieve these kinds of squad wipes the higher level you go. Anyway, the tone is getting a bit heated and I'm getting concerned so let's just dial it bac...

That could be rectified by tweaking other values though, for example you could increase their base damage but give them range falloff, or you could remove stun bomb's friendly fire and make it native to the squad, and move infiltration to the upgrade. Tweaks can be delivered in packages to deliver t...

I feel pretty confident that we can interpret their posts as claiming that Bloodletter performance is fine as is, and they don't need a buff. It would be a small one, but they are arguing against it.

Re: Bloodletters hate fire more than heretics?
I'm not sure this is off-topic. You've posted in the balance forums, and I've asked you to convince us that they need fire-resist armour through a balance related argument, preferably with regards to their cost-efficiency performance. People step in talking about Bloodletter performance and how to m...
