Re: 2.9.1 What is the current role of Genestealers?
Yeah, I always thought they were supposed to be melee superiority, but their performance in this role made me question it and whether they were meant for some other purpose. But my experience has always been that they performed this role very poorly against T2 melee (and even T1 melee) if they weren...

Re: 2.9.1 What is the current role of Genestealers?
Ok, so I think consensus being to only utilize them under synapse and not as the first to engage. And also don't use them near units with activated knockback abilities. I usually have them near a capi tower but will be sure they stay under synapse from now on. I'll keep them more to the builds where...

Re: The T3 Lictor flesh hook almost never works for me
Can't speak for Oddnerd's experience, but for me it seems to be the exact same as when other abilities bug out like Hammer of Witches or Ol'Unreliable The lictor flesh hook animation appears to start but then stops midway, or the animation never occurs. However, the flesh hooks don't come out and th...

2.9.1 What is the current role of Genestealers?
I'm trying to utilize them more often but having trouble finding an efficient niche for them. They do well against T1 dedicated melee (for the most part) but seem to trade poorly against other T2 melee and don't really do much against vehicles without their T3 claw upgrades. They bleed a shit ton tr...

Re: Improvements to Tyranids quality of life
It is useful when your enemy tries to hunt Neuro with jump squads or melee. I'm sincerely trying to imagine a scenario where melee/jump squads are within 25 range of the Neuro and you don't want to retreat the Neuro immediately, or it doesn't already have enough support to force off the units hunti...

Re: The T3 Lictor flesh hook almost never works for me
I think it's just one of those weird bugs in the game. It's happened a lot for me as well. I will say that the T3 Lictor seems to be more reliable than the LA, but maybe that's just because I use the ability of the T3L less often. It seems to work better if the lictor is closer to the target than ma...

Re: Split Battlecry into 2 abilities?
Is it possible to give the teleport a ground indicator for where he's teleporting to (similar to what you get with a droppod)? The only issue I really see with the telehammer combination is counterplay. You have to anticipate it coming at any time and set your squads up to move at a moments notice. ...

Re: Improvements to Tyranids quality of life
Tyranids will always be weak to turrets since they never got looked at this part and never will I guess. Garrisons is another thing but it's got abit better since the last few patchs. I wholeheartedly agree with this. The Elite mod has made huge improvements to nids and gameplay over vanilla imo, n...

Improvements to Tyranids quality of life
Hey, I really like most of the changes to Tyranids in 2.9 but I wonder if they might have some tweaks to improve quality of life to some situations they're severely lacking in and their late game on some units. I'm focusing on individual weaknesses and peculiarities of units in the Nid roster that I...

Re: 2.9.0 and Post-Release Roadmap
Ripper snare no longer affects infantry targets.
(should still affect vehicles and monstrous creatures)
When I tried rippers on enemy transport vehicles (rhino and chimera) they didn't seem to do any snare (and no vfx).
Haven't tried them on other vehicles yet.

If you don't know who owns/manages this domain then you might consider migrating the content to a new domain and hosting since there's no telling when it could just go down if the owner decides to stop paying for it. It appears that the domain was renewed for at least another year though. If it's ju...

This has been said a thousand time; you can't balance something only with the lore, even the tabletop wh40k game is not lore friendly. Catachan are known to use power weapons lore wise.
In terms of is it necessary for IG to have power weapons, I think it's stated well enough in previous comments.

You need to renew the SSL with your hosting, they should be able to issue you a new one for a fee. It's possible whoever manages this domain might need to activate it.

yeah but I demonstrate constant lose of tics on retreat - they just don't retreat that fast. The main issue is speed of gaunts = u CAN't retreat if engagement is started. just can't. forget it. they're dead. Uh, sorry no. What you demonstrated was how to judge an engagement poorly and stay in the f...

https://dawnofwar.info/esl/match/37170355 Not exactly sure what you hope to demonstrate with this rep...? You built 3x tics against 3x gaunts and consistently sent your tics into unfavorable situations. Yeah, 2x tics lose when they go up against 3x gaunts. That's probably how it should work... My i...

Re: PPL say - get a topic. About meta-tyranid these days
I don't really buy the notion that gaunts don't bleed. They drop models when the enemy looks at them funny. Their leap can throw off abilities like shotgun blast and grenades sure, but that just means you have to time it a bit better rather than brain dead spam cast it. Kite back a bit after one cha...

Re: PPL say - get a topic. About meta-tyranid these days
I'll chime in since I've been playing a lot of Nids the past few months. First, I do agree that hormagaunts are very good at pressuring. They're efficient for their cost and their bleed (and they always bleed) isn't so bad. But I also kind of agree with Sex - Murder - Art, hormagaunts stand out as v...

Re: 2.9 Patch: Upkeep and Pop Values.
Superb write-up! It really clarifies a lot of the reasoning behind changes to pop and upkeep. But I'm curious, if pop/upkeep standardization is based roughly on the cost of a unit, how will changing the cost of a unit based on balance decisions affect its pop/upkeep? It seems like "no, it won't...

I feel like getting a mouse like this could help immensely. The keybindings for unit abilities can all be remapped, so it's possible they could be remapped on to buttons on this mouse. It would require a lot of upfront work, but you'd be able to play as well as the rest of them with practice I recko...

Nobody is forcing you into getting a Zoan any more than it is forced right now. Other nid units aren't getting magically nerfed into oblivion. They are as viable as ever. I think my question is being misunderstood, and that could be my fault. I'm not trying to argue that the zoanthrope doesn't have...

Zoans are already needed in each matchup and always have been tyranids t2 very basic to understand Venom brood to buff termagunts and ravs, also give more synapse. Tyrant Guard to tank and line break. Genestealers to be your elite melee unit would be nice if they were that again :( Zoans to be your ...

On another note, I think it's not a good idea to have a priori about mu. If you think you're favoured you might take it too easy and make mistakes, and if you think you're at a disadvantage, you'll tend to give up too quickly. Only mirrors can really be one-sided, otherwise at equal skill level any...

Can I ask the reasoning for putting the healing ability on the Zoanthrope? It seems like it's meant to address the fex inability to heal in the field, but that would make them essential in every nid comp although there are situations where using them isn't ideal. Esp if your opponent knows there wil...

It seems that the Warlock tends to be stronger in most MU's with a few exceptions to the Farseer and the Warpspider is almost never chosen. What are the cases where the Farseer or WS are better choices?
Is the Lictor always the weaker choice for nids in all MU's?

Re: Tyranid: How to team game?
Thanks for the input guys. It's not that I would expect it to not be a problem for nids. Double supers would be trouble for any race, but it seems that nids don't really have any counter for them. If he had a single baneblade by itself there then I could pressure it but it seems unlikely I would've ...
