Re: 2.8 Non-Consensus Thread (Part 2 of 2)

Is the melee dread giving a large HP pool to compensate for something that the OM lack? If so that needs to be focused on. Because i don't think it is good balance to give something as simple as a large HP pool and call that unique. That is just as mentioned before, compensation for a lack of poten...

Re: 2.8 Non-Consensus Thread (Part 2 of 2)

I always thought the longer sidearm ranges for BC, CL, and WB was a tradeoff for them not being able to take cover. They are not as good at waiting for enemies to come to them, so they are a bit better at chasing enemies instead. They're already fat and slow and easy to kite, nerfing their sidearm ...

Re: Would you be interested in 'plot maps & events'? Let's talk about it!

We can utilise the fact that 4v4 is entirely possible. Having 5v3, 4v3, etc style games. Pre-set teams with asymmetry on the distribution of points, starting units, resource allocation and more. Games could be streamed live as events so long as there are only 7 players max (no obs slots in 4v4). Or ...

It's the battle of Armageddon and the last of the Imperial Guard defences at a key Star Fort are being overwhelmed by hordes of orks. Yarrick is on the ground commanding the Imperial Guard forces with the assistance of Lord General Kuryov. Play as Yarrick and lead on the front line slaying ork with ...

Would you be interested in a competitive 3v3 tournament? Let's talk about it.

Obligatory greetings aside today I feel a desire to talk about something we have been sorely missing in our community at dow2 for a long time - competitive 3v3! I remember a time many years ago when I'd play retail ranked with preset teams, we'd take it mad serious, often getting on voice chat, abus...

Re: 2.8 Non-Consensus Thread (Part 2 of 2)

I'd say kasrkin are really poorly designed atm. No obvious purpose and mish mash of all kinds of abilities. I liek the idea of greater effect from green cover but I doubt it will be used as kasrkin are mainly used as skirmishing side cappers as in the main GM blob you use lemans. Still deployable co...

Re: Tyrant Guard slighlty too durable?

Yeah it's 10% of their hp lost instantly per synapse creature that dies nearby - a good way to help a melee walker solo a thornback fex - use infantry to kill nearby synapse creatures =D Likewise though, that's why having even BSWB around a TG when the TG is fighting another t2 melee walker will mak...

Re: Lord General range behaviour

As above,

A workaround is to just normalise the range values of those pistol type weapons on the retinue members to be equal to the LG's bolter.

But that would in reality be a large dps buff. But you could couple a range increase with a dps reduction.

Re: 2.8 Non-Consensus Thread (Part 2 of 2)

These discussions can be discouraging for the humble average Eldar player. You crawl your way into a very taxing faction, you subjectively feel you have to put so much more effort to achieve some results, and then you realize it was all a lie, that some people in the inner circle think Eldar are au...

Re: 2.8 Non-Consensus Thread (Part 2 of 2)

I mean most of what you said above is just flat out wrong. So claiming that Eldar can never be gen-bashed, assuming the most power intensive race in the game can casually drop 130 in T2 for 500hp of generalist fire support, and that said fire support is apparently so game breakingly overpowered tha...

- I mean most of what you said above is just flat out wrong. Unlike the falcon which is about 60 power cheaper and only mildly worse vs ve...

They benefit from basic synapse, yes, damage resistance. So do carnifexes. They also take damage from synaptic backlash.

For about 3x gen bashing effectiveness. Which is getting cut in half. ~3x compositional effectiveness (due to its inter economic and compositional synergies with eldar and its AV capacity) and about... 1.5x more anti-infantry effectiveness. Do you really think the Falcon has 3x the compositional ef...

Re: Chaos faction balance; weaker options

In that game vs Bruce I would have actually done a lot better if I went KCSM and BL+BC in t2... But that's tangential. There's no reason to buff KCSM they're awesome atm. IG and eldar are both pretty vulnerable to them. And OM. But of course they're niche. They need to compete with BLs. And thye do....

Re: 2.8 Non-Consensus Thread (Part 2 of 2)

Yeah, WS/DR/FD/WG are all very niche choices which should be pretty obvious given how many different options the eldar have in the T2 and so each individually will never be used compared to the falcon. A better comparison is the falcon vs WL. In which case the falcon is gigantically superior in pret...

Yep, simply the slower movement speed means all models don't get into combat as fast, which can mean the initial models that do die quicker as all enemy models focus on them. Also, during the full mleee engagement with all models, specials will proc, when suppressed the models tha get knocked back f...

Nobs are way better vs infantry than paladins. And harder to kill thanks to retreat.
