As someone else pointed out - one of the problems is that it was meant to counter ranged blobs but it also lets SM melee units win melee fights because of its lack of friendly fire. If you gave the missiles friendly fire damage and knockback, then would still be good against ranged blobs but wouldn'...

He is pointing out that the higher melee DPH of the fex is outweighed by the amazing support aura that the Avatar has, along with it's excellent crowd control abilities.

So he has access to both. And? Now he is able to take on another kind of role that he would not be able to without the jump pack. The jump pack is not just a slight enhancement to existing melee apo builds - it would completely change how he plays. It still costs something and is seperated by tiers...

Every single commander with teleport (vanilla or through wargear) is an insufferable cunt to deal with in many matchups and maps. If apo gets a jump ability then you will be seeing a lot of "no apo" lobbies.

Some of these changes... CSM upkeep, horm leap damage, UYC reduced to 75 red... I just don't get it.

I dont play a lot of SM but when I played against SM as IG I remember some of the tactics that worked well. Riku's suggestion is a solid one - the amount of piercing damage that 2 tacs and a Fc with the stormshield active can absorb is incredible, allowing you to beat the IG player at his own game. ...

I would say a single ranger squad isn't even that OP - I can usually deal with an Eldar comp that has 1... they become an abomination when you get these cunts who build as many as 4 of them.

I loaded up a game vs AI to get a side-by-side of the two. Looks like CPM have more flesh-toned helmets. I'm not really sure what the big black spot is, could probably do without that in the portrait... maybe it is supposed to be a horn.

I don't think the fact that it is piercing matters - it matters what kind of damage source it is. The damage from the splash is not a ranged attack, it's an aoe effect from an ability.
