Re: HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
There is no need or duty to apply any sort of academic rigour to judge a game for a consumer. Blowing out a long reddit-esque rant and call it a day is fine too. It just shows that person as a consumer did not like that game for whatever reason. Trying to frame them as some unreasonable brute is po...

Re: HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
I remember that article. People tore it apart for misleading journalism and limited statistics drawing an overly-positive conclusion. The mantra was the game couldn't have sold well, because queue times were already deteriorating. The mantra was that Johnny Ebbert had ruined the series, because nobo...

I remember when people said that about Ebbert when he left after DoW II shipped.

Re: Dawn of War 3 modding tools!
If anybody figures out how to get renamed XML squad files in without causing a fatal SCaR exception (manifests as a BugSplat during game load), let me know. Official forums are the best way, I'm not exactly on here anymore. If not solved, that's going to be the blocker on any mod that wants to intro...

Re: "The community" and DOW3
Just a bit tired of the complaints about "white knights", there are groups of people all over the Steam forums for example, and they all have their own opinions and mindsets. There are a ton of people who don't even own the game but routinely comment on every "should I get this game&q...

Re: "The community" and DOW3
To be entirely honest, the main reason for me not having any interest in DOW3; ignoring problems like graphics, gameplay, animations, voice acting, etc. Is the massive arse price tag. Just no... Im not paying 100 dollars for it. Also, the community is one of the worst ive ever seen. One dissenting ...

Re: "The community" and DOW3
Scrap is a good compromise for that, I feel. Uniquely suits the Orks. This does mean by design other races lose out, but at the same time we never saw anything like Battle Focus (or even global-scoped Drop Pods on the UI, plus Banner) before. The closest we got was Tyranid Synapse, and that was seve...

Re: "The community" and DOW3
Saying that you're biased is not an ad hominem, in any shape, way or form. We all have bias - the trick is admitting it. You weren't ever going to give Dullahan's post a fair read because you were already going to post something against DoW III in response to whatever he wrote. My bias is that I agr...

Re: "The community" and DOW3
When your initial reaction is to claim a positive post by a longtime DoW II player was written by a community manager, it's kinda obvious how far down the well of your own bias you are.
Props to Dullahan for the effort, it was a nice surprise to read something like this, early this morning.

Re: "The community" and DOW3
To be really honest, I don't understand why people don't like DOW3. Because, as it was said many times, it's barely a DoW game. It wasn't designed with the dedicated DoW1/2 people in mind but to expand their market to other people, shooting themselves in the foot since that alienated the aforementi...

I think it is a denuvo game, so I believe the modding potential is not there.
Modding already exists and is supported. Less reddit rumours about Denuvo, aye?

Threads where? Here? Not that I can see? The Steam forums? Stuff there gets buried due to Steam's UI and UX being able ten years out of date. The official forums? Yeah, I've been in a few of those threads. You have no idea what I do and don't ignore, to be honest. Relic have already talked about wha...

As much as I'm trying to compromise with someone who takes a single multiple-choice question out of a much larger form to frame the entire game as a MOBA Why do I keep seeing you pull this fallacy so often lately? Re: Steam Reviews are less than stellar
As much as I'm trying to compromise with someone who takes a single multiple-choice question out of a much larger form to frame the entire game as a MOBA, yes :) The ability design is obviously reminiscent of MOBA titles more than it is classical RTS titles. However, it's also reminiscent of DoW II....

A lot of these people probably played many hours of the Beta, which would not transfer over to the full game (I assume). Back when the game was just being sneak peeked, we were told it was too early to pass judgement, even though many people can tell a game they like from one they don't very quickl...

Re: Steam Reviews are less than stellar
I've always found it funny that critical reviews are automatically useless and user reviews are automatically the most reliable thing ever. I mean, most professional reviews are scored, around 1 to 10. And I have issues with this system; it really isn't perfect and not every game can be reduced to s...

Re: Steam Reviews are less than stellar
I have yes, played all of the DOW games. While I find DOW 3's multiplayer to be passable even fun at times the campaign is just complete, pure heresy for the reasons aforementioned above. In what ways do you think DoW III's campaign doesn't play like vDoW / WA? Seems pretty identical to me, in term...

@Shroom Did you ever play Dawn of War? As in, the original? Or Winter Assault? Sure, but the reason for that wasn't the lack of a framework, it was (arguably) for a lot of reasons at the time in the DoW 1 modding base.

I only know what has been confirmed, which is a map / level editor at release. CoH 2 support was more than most of their previous offerings got, excepting the original vDoW modding tools. CoH and DoW II built their tools from within the community, by reverse-engineering file formats, with some notab...
