Eldritch Storm

So. How does everybody feel about the damage this nuke does, the speed at which it manifests, and the inherent vehicle stunning utility it provides? Because I think it's been grossly overpowered since retail, offering too much in a single ability, and that something should have been done about it be...

Re: Hellfire rounds

Switching SG rounds is literally pressing 2 buttons in succession if you don't have SG selected. That is like saying Tac kraken bolts significantly taxes your micro. DA require significantly more micro than SG. 5 vastly different abilities which most of them are more troublesome to use than switchi...

Re: Hellfire rounds

@Nurland, everything in perspective right? Compared to most squads, I think that 4 alternating round choices is a staggering amount of micro. And SG come with additional inherent costs and limitations that are anything but normal. Most squads have one or two situational abilities max. Considering I ...

Re: Tacs' plasma gun under kraken rounds

Again - if it did, it wouldn't make any any any difference at all. It has literally no effect. You said yourself it would be a 6% damage increase on the piercing damage. I'd take a 6% damage increase. Moreover, we aren't asking you with regards to the bolter DPS, we're asking you to make it so that...

Re: Hellfire rounds

Sternguard have consistently required a large micro investment (diligent round switching, even more so now against commanders), been highly susceptible to interruption (you can't double up on them), and afforded painfully mediocre damage (approx 13-15 dps per model depending on target and round type...

Re: Tacs' plasma gun under kraken rounds

I agree with the OP and Torpid on this. The limitation on Kraken rounds to only HI is a relic that makes no sense within the current context of the game. In a world of SS and CSM, the fact that kraken rounds is strangely useless against SHI is simply counter intuitive. Moreover, I'd like to point ou...

Re: Change Tome of Subjugation

It isn't the same as a stun though because in the period in which you use it you cannot slaughter the squad you subjugate... True. I regret my phrasing. I should have said that it is the equivalent of removing a squad from play for 10 seconds. Still good in my book, but to be fair, not as good as s...

Re: Librarian Ranged Attack Damage

I agree with just about everything you just said. In particular: "Nobody ought to buy the force staff for the ranged attack that's really foolish as it costs way way way too much to justify a ~20dps increase in ranged dps and a 10dps increase in melee dps. You buy it for the melee/ranged dps in...

Re: Change Tome of Subjugation

At MINIMUM, tome of subjugation can be thought of as a targeted ten second stun. That's damn good no matter what game mode you are in. Add to that the ability to move the subjugated unit, waste their abilities, and attack their allies. I think that the ability is fine as is. Certainly in terms of th...

Re: Librarian Ranged Attack Damage

That makes some sense. Although, I find that dropping smite on a heretic/gaunt/guardian/shoota squad is...effective. I don't think it is unfair to suggest that those units are, by their nature, vulnerable to AOE damage followed by subsequent ranged fire. After all, each individual model sports a low...

Librarian Ranged Attack Damage

I think the librarian still does piercing damage with his ranged attack, which confuses me on several levels. First, AND LEAST IMPORTANT, psychic damage would make more sense from a lore perspective. (Just wanted to get that out of the way.) Second, I understand that the librarian's ranged damage wa...

I love, I mean I really love, that headpiece on the Tzeentch dreadnought. It is nothing short of fantastic. If I could shake the hand of person who did that, I would. It got me thinking, what is your favorite piece of art in the mod? It can be a unit model, or a portrait, or whatever else. Also, is ...

Re: Patch 2.3.1 (Tentative balance changelog preview)

I've also seen multiple people (again, sorry for not remembering specific names) propose moving SG and VG to the SM base, instead of making them upgrades for the tac squad and assault squad. If your version of the DP was ever implemented, the very next thing I would suggest would be to move the SG ...

Re: Patch 2.3.1 (Tentative balance changelog preview)

Since it has just been brought up again, I'd like to volunteer my two cents on the drop pod: First, I think the drop pod has always been an underwhelming, overly-niche, and boring ability. I completely understand where the impetus came from to change it. I'm not saying that it was terrible in the ve...

Re: Patch 2.3.1 (Tentative balance changelog preview)

Lolzarz, I don't think the plasma gun should be replaced with anything. I don't think that you and I are even talking about the same thing. I think that SG should do for the SM roster what the plasma gun is supposedly there to do, but in a more versatile, less spammable, and more engaging way. I can...

Here are the suggested numbers, http://i.imgur.com/MbyDj1K.png . We're a bit worried SG might overperform when compared to regular tacs. Give your thoughts I don't think that looks like "overperformance." All those numbers look conservative to me, especially considering the SG squad will ...

I've generally stopped posting on here, but I wanted to hop on and support the people asking for at least a sarge on the dropped squad. Re: Vote for new Librarian Force Barrier

The original wall blocked line of effect for projectiles, movement for infantry, and allowed vehicles to pass through.

I'm assuming that the base mechanic for either iteration of the new forcewall will keep that mechanic. So, I don't think we would need to worry about it being used to trap vehicles.

We've all seen what the current iteration of force barrier can do. Option 1 would be a definite improvement, but I'm more interested to see what option 2 looks like after several weeks of testing in competitive play.

I vote option 2, for whatever my vote is worth.

And I care quite little for tabletop/fluff, if that wasn't blatanly obvious by now. It's more of a source for inspiration if anything. Adapting that to gameplay is just nonsensical if you ask me. Re: Patch 2.3 - Tentative Balance changelog

I have to say, as a core concept, I think it would have been neat to have SG act for tactical marines the way VG currently do for assault marines. (lategame, anti-inf focused upgrade (4 round types, 4 infantry armor types) at the price of AV) I also dislike the disproportionate weight given hellfire...

With absolutely zero offense intended, I wanted to take a moment and express my confusion over the WW damage buffs that I've seen pop up here and there over the last few patches to this mod. Re: Grand scheme of balance changes to be made - My thoughts

I'm very excited to see what direction you take the mod in. Given what you said in your post, I'd like to plug Lulgrim's idea from the drop pod thread (I.e. making it so the SM drop pod can deep strike a SM infantry unit, already purchased at the base, for additional cost in zeal). Just thought it w...
