Re: Imperial Guard Discussion
1) It makes them less useful vs walkers (their main use really) because they will get hurt even more from special attacks and lose significant amount of dps from earlier model losses. Ogryns are a stupid counter to walkers. Walkers get melee resistance and if you fail, you bled, and they gained exp...

Re: Imperial Guard Discussion
For clarification too, I'm not talking about T1. I realize they do quite well in T1, especially with a lot of different units. Their problems lie in T2 I believe. Using catas for counter initiation, they still seem to melt too quickly. As for the ogryn, the only times I've made them really effective...

Imperial Guard Discussion
Gentlemen and other forum scum (just kidding), Let's talk about IG. I'll be the first to admit I have very limited 1v1 experience but from what I can tell from casts and tournaments, IG isn't utilized very often. Based on my team game/2v2 experience, I think there is something amiss within the Imper...

Re: Blood Sacrifice
I love blood sacrifice. Every one here seems to have discussed it well enough already. One note though that may or may not still be true, it used to work anyway... if you have a shrine nearby when you use it, you can pull the temporal letters back to it and it will regen their energy faster than the...

Re: Imperial guard vs eldar more focused early and late game
I wouldn't recommend double sents, but how can you say double spotters doesn't scale? They can be used against vehicles and d cannons in t3, even use disruption against something like a seer council...

Re: Imperial guard vs eldar more focused early and late game
You should try messing around with double spotters. I really like them. 2x guardsmen with a sentinel should be enough dps in T1 coupled by chaining disruption and smoke shells. Take your time chaining them and you'll find that with two, the cool downs all sort of line up nicely to just keep using ab...

Re: Squad Leaders
I like the idea of being cheaper to buy after the initial purchase, though maybe only for certain squads. Ogryn, asm/raptors, banshees maybe. Only because they really need their leaders to stay effective and they are often taking the brunt of incoming fire.

Re: Catachans vs Spotters
Torpid pretty much said it. Catachans are best for counter initiating melee fights in ig t1. I prefer spotters most of the time. The smoke shell is just too powerful to not love. Remember it works on turrets and vehicles, too.

If you'd like, you can fix hotkey problems like that yourself. Go into the game folder called settings? I think in the same directory as playback files. Open the key defaults file in notepad and edit the keys. Then save the file with the _ before it.

Re: Bugs/Issues Thread #2
Saw this in a game last night and tested it to confirm.
I don't think it's intentional.
The plague champion has a detection radius larger than just bumping into him. Might be on par with original sentinel detection.

Re: Manticore
It might an obvious but it's worth noting that with the manticore, you'll want to get slick with hotkeys and shortcuts. Learn to target smart but also quick. You don't want to miss an opportunity when the enemy is all bunched up. I think it's also reasonable to bring your manticore pretty close to t...

Re: Quesshun: 'Ow ta be moar Orky?
Good grief, some of you really get down on this writing out strategy thing. I think the best advice for any race is just to play them a lot. Experiment with builds. Don't copy and paste other strats. They might work for you but dow is a fluid game and you need to be able to react. Orkz are a Swiss a...

Re: Sniper Rework - WIP
They won't be worthless against higher hp squads/models. They'll do less damage to them but their fire rate is increased. Also, more damage to commanders. Snipers might end up being the new anti apothecary necessity. Who knows without play testing? I like the idea. We'll have to see how it goes, it ...

Awesome post raffa. I know you mentioned that touch of nurgle should be used almost exclusively on heretics but it's also a good way to deter a squad from being tied up in melee.

Re: Land Raider Phobos
I know the land raider isn't a replacement army or anything. At least the other two variants have some benefit to letting them idle behind your army. Phobos needs to be engaged as a weapon, that is it's purpose. I think that for it to be viable, you need to be able to use it on the attack and it's t...

Land Raider Phobos
I apologise in advance if this has been discussed previously. I haven't frequented the forum in the past. I'd like to open discussion on the phobos. I see it's role as a fire base. It has good damage, albeit unreliable based on the firing angles and consistency of firing (wind up and fizzle). When c...

Re: :(
I can't click the link but I'm relatively sure that's my match vs raffa. Honestly, I love Fc and I think it could just be removed completely. It's not hard to level him so the energy cost is not all that damning. It's a great, high dps weapon that does heavy melee. I think that should be sufficient ...

OK I'll play. Cadaras Grendel Iron Warrior Legion In the lore, his signature weapon is the melta gun, and I think we can all agree, melta guns are fucking awesome. Abilities could be things like: The Iron Within: Increased melee damage for a short time. The Iron Without: Increased resistance to rang...

Re: Land Raider Phobos
To start, I'll mention I play 3v3 and 2v2 almost exclusively, and I know elite is balanced for 1v1, which I don't have experience in. So, grain of salt warning there. I love buying the phobos because it's a good weapon platform for sitting in the back. I like the stun effect in that units can sort o...

Re: Mantle of Hate
I find myself using the Mantle quite frequently if I'm honest. I think it does its job. If I know someone loves to use their commander, or buys a sub commander, I immediately want to go for the mantle just to throw a wrench into that. That being said, while I believe it's OK in it's current form, I ...

Eldar are very mobile, but I think that's kind of their thing, right? I wonder how it might play out if they just weren't cloaked.. Why are they invisible anyway? Because the Eldar are the only ones who know how to traverse the warp via webway? Pff.. At least you wouldn't have to go through the trou...
